Physicians

 

We have developed a team of highly skilled women OB/GYN physicians/surgeons, nurse practitioners, a physician assistant, ARNPs, and for those of you seeking a unique and memorable birth experience we offer the option of using our nurse midwives who work closely with the physicians and deliver babies at the Family Maternity Center at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center.

 

Kathryn Arendt

Kathryn Arendt, MD, received her medical degree, cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of New Mexico then completed a two year fellowship in pelvic reconstructive surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle.

Dr. Arendt is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 1998. She is a member of the American Urogynecology Society and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Arendt has been a leader at Evergreen Hospital in promoting a multidisciplinary approach to treatment of women with pelvic floor disorders. She has fostered collaboration among specialists and improved learning by starting a multidisciplinary conference to discuss pelvic floor disorders at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center.

She is also a frequent speaker, teaching health care providers and the public about pelvic floor disorders and available treatment options.

Dr. Arendt is the medical director of the new Center for Continence and Pelvic Health at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center. She no longer provides obstetric care but specializes in treating women with pelvic floor disorders and other gynecologic problems.

 

Michele Delorit

Michele Delorit, MD received her medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1995. Her residency was completed at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. Prior to joining the Center for Women's Health at Evergreen in 2006, Dr. Delorit spent seven years practicing in California with the Permanente Medical Group. There she served on the Domestic Violence task force to help incorporate screening into healthcare practices. She was drawn to obstetrics and gynecology because it allowed her the opportunity to teach women about preventive health care and healthy lifestyle choices from adolescence through menopause. Her special interests include contraceptive counseling and management, HPV screening and prenatal care/obstetrics. She is happy to be returning to the Pacific Northwest.

 

Anita Ninan

Anita S. Ninan, Md, MPH received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2001 and completed the residency in OB/GYN at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She chose the field of OB/GYN to help women navigate through the spectrum of medical issue that arise from adolescence through menopause. Dr. Ninan joined the Center for Women’s Health at Evergreen in 2007 after practicing at Pacific Medical Center in Seattle. Her special interests include adolescent pregnancies and gynecology, infertility, laparoscopic surgery and menopause.

 

Dr. Mary Elizabeth Skrypzak

Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Skrypzak

Beth Skrypzak, MD, graduated from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA and completed her residency at the University of Vermont. She joined us in 2002 from Virginia Mason, downtown Seattle, where she practiced from 1992 until 2001. She is a clinical instructor at the University of Washington. She has been board certified since 1994. Dr. Skrypzak was awarded "Best Doctors" in 2001 and was featured in Seattle Magazine’s "Top Doctors" in 2000 and 2002.

Dr. Skrypzak listens to her patient's concerns, educates them with explanations and treatment options and helps guide them to their personal choices. She strives for non-invasive treatments. She encourages her patients to actively participate in their health care. Her areas of special interests are  operative laparoscopy, menopause, GYN surgery and abnormal pap smears.

 

Dr. Karen Wells

Karen Wells

Karen Wells, MD, earned her medical degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine where she was elected president of her graduating class. She also earned membership in Alpha Omega Alpha, the honor society representing the top 10% of the class. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Southern California in 1997 and became board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2001. In September 2003, she was selected as one of the “Top Doctors” for Women in Seattle. Dr. Wells especially enjoys the close relationship with her patients. When patients participate in their own medical decisions there is a great exchange of information for lifelong good health.

 

Dr. Karen Wells

Diana L. Villanueva

Diana L. Villanueva, MD, earned her medical degree from the University of Washington and completed her residency at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara, California. She has been a board certified OBGYN since 1995 and is a clinical instructor at the University of Washington. Up until joining us in October of 2007, Diana practiced at SeaMar Community Health Center in Seattle. She grew up in Mexico City and speaks Spanish fluently.

Dr Villanueva views the doctor patient relationship as a partnership and sees her patients as a whole when making decisions about their care. In diagnosing problems, it is important to look at all aspects of one’s life to find the appropriate treatment. Diana collaborates with her patients to look at the total picture and find what is best for them. Her areas of interest include obstetrics, menopause, contraception, vulvar diseases, abnormal uterine bleeding, and how exercise and nutrition contribute to health.

Besides her work, she also enjoys running, hiking, bicycling, rock-hounding, jazz and spending time with her family.
