Sharon HammondSharon Hammond, CNM, ARNP. Sharon has been involved with the care of women and families since 1976. She has worked as an obstetrical nurse, Lamaze instructor, and speaker/lecturer on Women’s Health issues. She graduated from the Community Based Nurse-midwifery Education Program and Case Western Reserve University with a Master’s Degree in Nursing in 1995. Sharon believes that birth is a peak event in a family’s life, and that it is an honor to share in this time. She has had the pleasure of caring for adolescent and mature women alike, and feels all women are empowered by information regarding their health, and emotional support during their life changes. |

Michele JacksonMichele Jackson, CNM, ARNP joined the Center for Women’s Health at Evergreen in March of 2004, after completing her Master’s Degree in Nursing at the University of Stony Brook in New York and receiving her certification from the American College of Nurse Midwives. She has been a labor and delivery nurse since 1994. Michele strives to develop a caring and personal relationship while providing care for women through their life cycle. Her goal is to create an environment in which women are educated and encouraged to make their own health care decisions. She feels that labor and birth should be a positive enlightening experience for both the parents and the entire family unit. |

Janice SmithJanice Smith, CNM, ARNP, is a certified nurse-midwife. She received a Bachelor of Science in microbiology and immunology from the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Science from the University of Michigan. Janice returned to school to become a midwife, having been born at home herself with an obstetrician and lay midwife in attendance. Janice has worked as a labor and delivery nurse in Toronto, Canada, and Jackson, Michigan, and as a certified nurse-midwife in Denver, Colorado. Janice has contributed to publications in Nature Immunology and the Journal of Biological Chemistry and co-authored a recent article in the Journal of Midwifery & Women’s Health. |

Sachiko OshioSachiko Oshio PhD, CNM, ARNP, received her B.S. in nursing from St. Luke’s College of nursing in Tokyo, Japan in 1977. She received her M.S. in nursing from Boston University in 1981 and her PhD in nursing from the University of Washington in 1992. In addition, she completed postdoctoral work earning her a Certificate in Nurse Midwifery in 1994 at Oregon Health Sciences University. |

Shana BurtonShana Burton, CNM, WHCNM, ARNP. Shana joined the Center for Women's Health at Evergreen after graduating from Oregon Health and Sciences University with her Post Master’s Certification in Nurse Midwifery. Prior to her Midwifery Certification, she practiced in Salem, Oregon at Kaiser Permanente as a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner. Her return to school to study midwifery was prompted by a very important part of women’s healthcare -childbirth. She feels privileged to be able to share in this life-changing event with women and their families. Shana enjoys being able to celebrate all the milestones that are encountered in caring for women from adolescence through menopause. |
